Trip Cancellation

Overview

Have you ever paid for an airline flight and had to cancel your flight?  Most airline tickets are non refundable resulting in you to pay fees to change the flight or trying to sell the ticket to someone else. This benefit covers non-refundable tickets for airline flight up to $500 should you not be able to travel.

  • Reimburses member for forfeited non-refundable unused payments and deposits, not to exceed $500, if member's trip is cancelled for various reasons.

Description

Reasons include:
 
 1. Heavy illness, accident, death of the cardholder, his spouse or the life companion, the children.
 2. Death of ascendants, descendants, brothers, sisters, brothers in law, sisters in law, stepsons, stepdaughters, fathers in law, mothers in law
 3. Major damage requesting imperatively the presence of the cardholder, resulting from theft, fire or natural perils caused to the insured's:

  . principal and secondary residence
   . business office when the cardholder is the manager or practices a liberal profession.

 Indemnity paid by the insurer in case of cancellation before the date of departure :
 100 % of the cancellation indemnity due under the travel contract.

Conditions:
This policy shall reimburse an amount up to but not exceeding the above mentioned insured amount against :

 1. deposits already paid (if not recoverable) and any amounts for which the Insured Person is legally responsible if the trip is cancelled or
 2. a proportionate amount of expenses paid or incurred and not recoverable or usable which are lost through curtailment of the trip plus necessary additional accommodation and travel expenses incurred due to any cause except

  a- Government regulation or act of currency restriction.
  b- Unemployment (other than redundancy).
  c- Disinclination to travel or continue the holiday.
  d- Financial circumstances of any Insured Person.
  e- Failure by the tour operator or any provider of transport or accommodation to fulfill the holiday booking.
  f- Non issue of visas.

 In respect of the above circumstances cover includes delay in the pre-booked itinerary due to strike industrial action adverse weather conditions mechanical breakdown or defect or overbooking which affects the aircraft vessel or other licensed passenger carrying transport subject to a minimum delay of 24 hours.

Exclusions: 
- Intentional self inflicted injury while sane or insane.
- Excessive use of alcohol, use of drugs other than under medical supervision.
 The inebriety of an insured person, unless it can be proved by him or his beneficiaries that there is no proximate link (the state of intoxication will be determinated according to the regulations in force in the country where the accident occurred).
- War, invasion, act of foreign enemy, hostilities (whether war be declared or not), civil war, rebellion, revolution, insurrection or military or usurped power.
- Ionising radiations from or contamination by radioactivity from any nuclear fuel or from any nuclear waste or from the combustion of nuclear fuel.


- The radioactive, toxic explosive or other hazardous or contaminating properties of any nuclear installation, reactor or other nuclear assembly or nuclear component thereof.
- Bodily injury caused by accident or illness for which a medical treatment had commenced prior to making travel reservation.
- Epilepsy, diabetes, development of congenital illness.
- Chronic or pre-existent illness of the insured, unless no medical or paramedical treatment was required during the month preceding the date of making the travel reservation and if the doctor in attendance is of the opinion that there were no counter indications to making the journey.
- Accidents or disturbances consecutive to :

 . practicing of mountaineering along unmarked tracks, big game hunting, speleology, undersea fishing, combat sports;
 . taking part in races of any kind, speed-trials or competitions;
 . practicing professional or remunerative sports, as well as training in connection therewith.

- Psychological, psychosomatic, mental and nervous disturbances, unless they require an uninterrupted hospitalization during at least one week.
- Pregnancy problems, unless the insured person was less than three months pregnant at the time the insurance contract was subscribed.
- Childbirth or operations in connection therewith as well as voluntary abortions are always excluded from the coverage.
- Insolvency of the cardholder.
- Defect and bad state of the private car foreseen for the journey.
- Delay due to traffic disturbances and other incidents.
- Administrative, visa and other similar costs.

How To File a Claim

How to file a claim:


- Notice of any claim must be given to the insurers promptly.
- The insured person having sustained an injury authorizes his doctor to provide any information to the insurer's medical examiner.
- He undertakes to undergo, at the insurer's request, a medical examination for which the fees will be  borne by the insurer.

- In the event of death, the insurer is entitled to subordinate the payment of the indemnity to a post-mortem, for which the fees will be borne by the insurer.

- All medical certificates, accounts, receipts and information required by insurers shall be furnished in such forms as the insurer may require and at the expense of the claimant
