Ticket Guard Airline

Overview

Have you ever paid for an airline flight and had to cancel your flight?  Most airline tickets are non refundable resulting in you to pay fees to change the flight or trying to sell the ticket to someone else. This benefit covers non-refundable tickets for airline flight up to $500 should you not be able to travel.

Description

General Overview

Members who purchase nonrefundable Airline Tickets for flights in the United States and Canada only, with an Air Common Carrier while they are eligible members and for which a valid receipt is available, will be reimbursed for the cost of their unused Ticket up to $500 should they not be able to take the flight for a covered reason. In addition, the Member may be eligible for reimbursement of any applicable processing fees associated with the purchase of the covered Tickets up to $500.


Terms and Conditions
The following terms and conditions apply to all benefits set forth in the Ticket Guard program. Please note that coverage begins on the day a covered Ticket is purchased by the Member.

Definitions
1. Accidental Injury — means bodily injury caused by an accident occurring while this coverage is in force. The Accidental Injury must be verified by a Physician.

2. Air Common Carrier — means an air conveyance operating for hire under a valid license for the transportation of passengers.

3. Member— means a person who is an eligible Member and is authorized to utilize this benefit.

4. Family Member — means a spouse, mother, father, son, daughter, mother-in-law or father-in-law of the Member.

5. Flight — means a scheduled flight on an Air Common Carrier for which a covered Ticket is purchased.

6. Physician — means a licensed practitioner of the healing arts acting within the scope of his/her license. The treating Physician may not be the Member or a Family Member.

7. Sickness — means an illness or disease that is diagnosed or treated by a Physician after the effective date of coverage and while the Member is covered under this program.

8. Ticket — means a Flight ticket purchased and paid for in full by the Member.

Eligibility
The following are the eligibility criteria for this program:

1. The entire cost of the nonrefundable Airline Ticket must be paid for by the Member with a valid receipt provided.

2. Covered reasons for missing the Flight must be one of the following:

a) Sickness, Accidental Injury or Death of the Member.
b) Member is directly involved in a traffic accident while en route to the flight departure (as evidenced by a police report)
 
3.  Members must comply with all of the following conditions:
a) The Member must not be aware of any illness at the time a covered Ticket is purchased that would inhibit the Member’s ability to take a scheduled Flight
b) The Member must not be aware of any material fact, matter or circumstance at the time a covered Ticket is purchased which is likely to give rise to a claim
c) The Member shall use due diligence and do all things reasonably practicable to avoid or diminish any covered refund.

Exclusions
This program does not provide refunds in the following cases:

1. Any unauthorized purchases made by Member.
2. Tickets for which the entire purchase price is not paid for by the Member.
3. Tickets which are refundable
4. Tickets purchased for other than covered Flights
5. Flights that depart from, or arrive at, countries other than the U.S. or Canada
6. Tickets not printed on paper, including but not limited to, buttons and wristbands
7. Tickets not specifying the name, date and time of the Flight and the price of the Ticket
8. Cancellation, abandonment, postponement, curtailment or relocation in whole or part of the ticketed Flight
9. Disinclination on the part of the Member to not take a scheduled Flight
10. Any amounts which are reimbursable from any other source
11. Ticket Guard does not cover any loss caused by or resulting from Biological / Nuclear / Chemical Terrorism.   An act of terrorism means an act, including but not limited to, the use of force or violence and/or the threat thereof, of any person or group(s) of persons, whether acting alone or on behalf of or in connection with any organization(s) or government(s), committed for political, religious, ideological or ethnic purposes or reasons including the intention to influence any government and/or to put the public, or any section of the public, in fear.

How To File a Claim

How to file a claim:

Contact Claims Administrator at 1-800-711-4280

Member should call the Claims Administrator’s toll-free number at
1-800-711-4280, Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. through 8:00 p.m. (EST), within 15 days of the missed Flight. Coverage eligibility will be verified and the Member will be asked to send the Claims Administrator or its authorized representative written notice of claim including all required documentation.  The Member must submit claims for all covered Tickets. Claim documentation must be returned to the Claims Administrator or its authorized representative within 60 days of the missed Flight.


Claim documentation includes a copy of the receipt which shows the date Tickets were purchased, seller of the covered Tickets, number of Tickets purchased and Ticket pricing. Copies of official death certificates (in the event of death), written medical reports (in the event of sickness or accidental injury), official police reports (in the event of a traffic accident), receipts for exchange fees charged by the Air Common Carrier to exchange the tickets for the covered Flight, and other pertinent documentation will also be required to be eligible for reimbursement under this plan. All covered claims will be paid within 7 business days of the Claims Administrator or its authorized representative’s receipt of all proper documentation.
